South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, Department of Health Sec. Kim Malsam-Rysdon held a press conference March 23, 2020, to provide the latest information on the status of COVID-19 (coronavirus) in the state. Current data showed 28 cases had been confirmed in the state, including the first positive cases in Hughes and Lyman counties in central South Dakota. Beadle County has 12 cases so far and Gov. Noem is asking city and county leaders there to enforce stricter social distancing rules to try to stop the spread.
